About this session
Toileting can be a tricky subject in various setting – knowing how to best deal with issues if and when they arise. Wetting or soiling accidents are not emotionally easy for children or the staff/carers supporting them.
Helping children be as comfortable as possible and ready to continue learning can be a challenge. A positive and effective strategy is important as it minimises disruption and supports children to develop their independence. It’s tough for parents too knowing how best to help.
Toileting is often seen as social and developmental milestone. It’s easy to worry when a child gets older and are not following the traditional or typical toileting behaviours. This can lead to anxiety in children, parents and professionals alike.
The session will help clarify what is meant by toileting, what can occur for some children with their toileting and strategies to help move them towards independence in toileting. This session is full of helpful knowledge and practical strategies.
